Travel tails and more!
Hey everyone!
If you’re planning to visit Thailand, you’re definitely going to want to check out some of the beautiful temples (called wats). They’re stunning — but there are some important rules to follow that I learned while traveling there:
• Dress respectfully: Always cover your shoulders and knees when visiting a temple. Some places offer sarongs to borrow if you forget!
• Take off your shoes: Before entering the main temple buildings, you’ll need to remove your shoes. Look for shoe racks or just follow what the locals do.
• Stay quiet and respectful: Temples are active places of worship, not just tourist attractions. Keeping your voice low and behaving calmly is important.
• Be mindful of your body language: Never point your feet at a Buddha statue, and avoid touching statues or monks (especially if you’re a woman).
• Photography rules: Some temples allow photos inside, but others don’t. Always check for signs or ask first before snapping pictures.
Visiting temples is one of the most peaceful and fascinating experiences in Thailand — just knowing a few simple etiquette tips makes it even more meaningful.
Anyone else have a favorite temple they visited in Thailand?
